Charles Soludo of APGA wins Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA as the winner of 2021 Anambra State Gubernatorial Election as Charles Soludo has swept to victory in 19 of the 21 local government areas of the state.

The outcome was declared following the collation of Tuesday’s Supplementary Election results in Ihiala Local Government Area.

Declaring the results, the Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi announced that the APGA Candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, got 112,229 votes to emerge victorious.

In announcing the outcome on Wednesday morning, Professor Florence Obi said, “that Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,”

Professor Obi announced that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Candidate, Mr Val Ozigbo polled 53,807 votes, while the All Progressives Congress, APC Candidate, scored 43,285 votes.

She appreciated the political parties, stakeholders and security agencies for their support to ensure the successful execution of the election.

Soludo’s victory comes on the heels of a toughly contested election that spilled into a supplementary poll over security concerns in one of the 21 local government areas – Ihiala.

Reacting to the outcome of the election, the APGA Agent, Senator Victor Umeh said it was keenly contested election.
