The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Anambra State, Mrs. Ify Obinabo has rescued a seventeen-year-old girl from her father who allegedly wanted to use her for rituals .
The survivor who hails from Nise town in Awka South Local Government Area is said to be the step daughter of the suspect one Mr. Sunday Ezeh, a traditionalist and suspected ritualist.
While speaking to the child in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Mrs. Obinabo explained that she was alerted by some indigenes of Nise but due to the sensitivity of the case, she collaborated with the local vigilante in apprehending the suspect before handing him over to the police.
She warned that the Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s led administration has zero tolerance for any form of crime and anyone caught must be severely dealt with.
Mrs. Obinabo warned against any form of harmful traditional practices against girls, children and women, noting that the eyes of the law must catch whoever that indulges in wicked acts against humanity.
