Emmys 2019 winners: the complete list
Post created on September 24, 2019
On Sunday night, the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best television series and performances of the past year. And, when the dust settled after a somewhat unpredictable edition of the annual awards show, we were left with a few surprises in the winners’ circle.
The biggest story of the night was that Game of Thrones failed to break its own Emmy record for the most trophies awarded to a single season of a TV show. After winning 10 awards for its final season at the Creative Arts Emmys, Game of Thrones needed just three more to bring its total number of wins to 13 and break its own record of 12. Going into the evening, that outcome seemed totally possible, as the show had multiple nominations across all seven drama categories. But in the end, it took home only two trophies — Supporting Actor in a Drama for Peter Dinklage, and Outstanding Drama Series — meaning it merely tied its earlier record without beating it.
The full list of Emmy winners can be read below. The winners of each category are bolded and italicized.
