Mr. Emeka Orji, Chairman of the Transitional Council of the Onitsha Southern District Council, has committed to the task of restoring the lost glory of the region.
Mr Orji explained this at the beginning of the demolition of illegal structures at the market in the area.
The demolition drill took him and the team through Port Harcourt Road, Ogbo Rod, Bridge Head Market, Allied Tool Markets, Ogbo Osisi Market and more.
While inspecting some of the buildings built along the drain in the area, the chairman issued a two-week ultimatum to the merchants to evacuate the drain and remove the goods displayed on the drain to improve the free flow of water.
Noting that this work is necessary and is in line with Governor Soludo’s urban renewal plan for livable and prosperous homes, he announced that his administration is targeting the impact of service delivery, with an eye toward addressing the region’s infrastructure issues. He revealed that plans for the establishment of fire service station, health facility across all the markets in Onitsha South.
